Questions

Do clients need an account?

+

No. They click your link, preview the files, pay, and download. No signup, no app install, no account creation. One link does everything.

How do payments work?

+

Stripe Connect. Your client pays you directly through Stripe. The money goes straight to your Stripe account. FileCheckout never touches or holds your funds.

What happens if my client doesn't pay?

+

Nothing. Your files stay locked. The client can see watermarked previews but can't download the originals until they pay. No payment, no files. You don't lose anything.

Is this like escrow?

+

Simpler. Escrow holds money with a third party, which adds fees and delays. FileCheckout is pay-before-download. Your client pays, the files unlock instantly, and the money goes directly to you. No middleman sitting on your cash.

How is this different from Gumroad or Etsy?

+

Gumroad and Etsy are marketplaces for selling to strangers. FileCheckout is for 1-to-1 client deliveries. You already have the client, you already did the work. You just need a secure way to get paid before handing over the files.

Is the preview watermark removable?

+

No. The watermark is baked directly into the preview image. It's not a CSS overlay someone can inspect-element away. Clients see a protected preview before payment and get the clean originals after.

Can I add my own branding?

+

Custom branding (your logo, colors, custom subdomain like deliver.yourbrand.com) is coming soon. Right now, delivery pages are clean and professional with FileCheckout branding.
