FileCheckout ("we," "us," or "our") operates filecheckout.com. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use our platform.

2. Information We Collect

Account information: When you sign up, we collect your email address and create an account through Supabase Auth. We do not collect passwords directly; authentication is handled by Supabase.

Delivery information: When you create a delivery, we collect the project title, client name, client email, amount due, and uploaded files. This information is necessary to provide the file delivery service.

Payment information: We do not collect, store, or process credit card numbers or payment card details. All payment processing is handled by Stripe (stripe.com). Please refer to Stripe's Privacy Policy for information about how they handle payment data.

Usage data: We use Vercel Analytics to collect anonymous usage data such as page views and browser type. This data does not identify individual users.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide and operate the FileCheckout service
• Process file deliveries and generate payment links
• Send email notifications about delivery status and payments
• Provide customer support
• Improve the platform and fix bugs
• Comply with legal obligations

4. File Storage and Security

Uploaded files are stored in a private Amazon S3 bucket managed through Supabase Storage. Files are only accessible through signed URLs that expire after a short time. Watermarked preview versions are generated server-side and stored separately. Original files are only accessible after payment is confirmed through Stripe.

Files are automatically deleted after the storage window expires (7 days for Free, 15 days for Pay-as-you-go, 30 days for Pro). We do not retain copies of deleted files.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share information only with:

• Stripe: For payment processing. Stripe receives client payment details directly.
• Supabase: For database hosting and authentication.
• Vercel: For website hosting and analytics.
• Resend: For sending email notifications (delivery confirmations, payment receipts).

We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or government request.

6. Client Data

Clients who receive delivery links do not need to create an account. We collect the client's name and email address as provided by the freelancer when creating a delivery. Client email addresses are used solely for sending delivery notifications and payment receipts. We do not use client emails for marketing.

7. Cookies

We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. We use Vercel Analytics which may set anonymous analytics cookies. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.

8. Data Retention

Account data is retained for as long as your account is active. Delivery metadata (titles, amounts, status) is retained for record-keeping purposes. Uploaded files are deleted automatically after the storage window expires. You can request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us.

9. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your account and data
• Object to processing of your information
• Export your data in a portable format

10. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including: encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), private storage buckets with signed URLs, row-level security on database tables, and secure authentication through Supabase. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

11. Children

FileCheckout is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the service constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
